BREAKING THE HABIT OF HESITATION

BREAKING THE HABIT OF HESITATION

July 26, 2017 Positive. People. 0

Today’s “Triple P” post is about BREAKING THE HABIT OF HESITATION.

Years ago, I was fearful of displaying my love of reading to other people. I pretty much kept this habit to myself. I did so because I erroneously believed it wasn’t “cool” to do so. I had to essentially overcome the fear of fear. In reality, reading and the acquisition of knowledge is a good thing. It was the fear of fear that got me caught up.

Have you ever had the fear of fear itself hold you back or keep you from doing something you knew you should do?

Here are a few strategies and tactics I used to defeat the fear of fear. They can work for you as well.

1) DON’T MAKE EXCUSES. Nothing works for you when you make excuses. We don’t have the luxury of doing things when we feel like it. We need to do what we need to do when we actually need to do it. Try saying that ten times in a row. Excuses do nothing but postpone our success in life. Don’t make excuses, take action.

2) USE YOUR INNER WISDOM. Life is constant growth and development. When we stop growing and developing, our life stops and stands still. All of us have a built in “I know I should be OR not be doing this” system in our brains. The question is whether or not we actually listen to this inner voice that guides us. Call it intuition, an omen, or whatever you like, but learn to listen to that inner wisdom guiding you to positive action.

3) DON’T PROCRASTINATE. Tell yourself procrastination is NOT an option for you. A lot of people block their own growth by not believing in themselves. You want to be totally focused on what you are here to do without taking your eye off the ball. Yes, there will be all kinds of distractions and setbacks along the way. So what. Many people talk about losing weight, going back to school, starting a new business, traveling the world, but NEVER TAKE ACTION. To win, you just need to take action – massive action. If you do not, life will sneak up on you and pass you by. Don’t get caught sleeping on your “life job.”

TAKEAWAY: Work hard to keep your life on schedule. Jettison the negative spouse, the unmotivated boyfriend/girlfriend, the routine run of the mill job, or boring career. Don’t make excuses about why you cannot do something or procrastinate putting off the steps you need to take to be successful in life. Listen to yourself because you know you better than anyone else. Take action on your purpose today.
