CHANGING OUR MENTALITY ISN’T ALWAYS EASY…
CHANGING OUR MENTALITY ISN’T ALWAYS EASY, BUT RECOGNIZE WHEN GOD IS AT WORK IN YOUR LIFE.
Everyone has different ideas about life and how it should be lived. We should, because ALL of us are on a different journey. While in most cases our lives are no more than a reflection of the decisions we make. Make good decisions – have a good life. Make bad decisions – have a bad life. It’s really much more than this. If in fact this is true, why is it good things happen to bad people and bad things happen to good people? I wish I knew the answer to this question, but I don’t.
What I do know and believe to be true comes from my own life experience. This is what has worked for me. Since BOTH success and failure leaves clues, some of the categories below may fit your life experience and may resonate with you!
1). TAKE CONTROL. We are what we think about. Be very careful what you put into your mind. If you surround yourself with negative, toxic, hateful, “do nothing” people – you will become negative, toxic, and hateful. If choose positive, upbeat, nourishing relationships – this will affect you in a positive way. Be careful who is whispering in your ear.
2). CLEAN HOUSE. It’s a fact of life not everyone is going to share the same level of excitement for YOUR life’s purpose as you. This is Ok. Just mentally prepare yourself for the negative onslaught the world will throw at you when you decide to take your life to the next level. Train yourself instead to see the good in everyone, even when they are getting on your last nerve. We can always control how we respond to others.
3). CHOOSE WISELY. While we as individuals ultimately were given the God given ability to make our own choices, we sometimes make the wrong choices. I had to learn this one the hard way. Pick the wrong person to share your life’s journey with and your life will be a living hell. On the other hand, pick the right person to be on your team and there is no stopping the two of you.
4). BELIEVE. I did not grow up in the church. Nobody taught me how to pray or build faith. I tried it when I was younger but it didn’t stick. As a result, I was in the spiritual wilderness for a longtime. I learned just trying to be a “good person” wasn’t enough. Today, I am conscience of my “faith behavior” and put forth an effort to learn and grow spiritually, even though I still make mistakes all the time – just not as many. This has helped me stay focused on my purpose and stay on the right track.
