SITTING ON A NAIL
Today’s “Triple P” post or positive post for the posse is about SITTING ON A NAIL.
So a guy is walking down the street one day when he looks up and sees an old man in a rocking chair sitting on a porch. Next to the man is a dog moaning, groaning and making all sorts of weird sounds.
Finally, the guy walking down the street looks up at the old man on the porch and asked him a question. “Why is that dog moaning and groaning so loudly.” The man on the porch looked up at him and said, “He’s moaning and groaning because he’s sitting on a nail.” “Why doesn’t he just get off the nail,” said the man. The man in the rocking chair replied, “It’s not hurting him bad enough.”
How many of you know people who just moan, groan, and complain all the time, but never do anything about it?
Here are a few things I do when I encounter these people.
1). LISTEN FIRST. Reaching out is the first step to providing the help some people may need. Sit down to talk in a supportive, non-judgmental way.
2). MORAL SUPPORT. Talk to them when you find someone being isolated. Engage them in your activities. Be empathetic
3). USE HUMOR. Contrary to popular perception, I laugh more than I am serious. I use laughter, not as a coping mechanism, but because there so much funny nonsense going on in our world today. Sometimes it is better to use the power of laughter.
I know there are a number of ways to help people. These are just a few that popped in my mind.
Remember, be RELENTLESS in pursuit of your goals!
